'The guests are welcomed in front of a hundred-year-old fireplace, or on the charming terrace frescoed by cascades of flowers. Each season has its own specialities served at the table, and here, what once was reserved for special occasions only, can now be enjoyed every day. A rich heritage of gastronomical culture reinterpreted by employing exclusively products of the generous Oliena territory.’

The popular Su Gologone restaurant is open to the public with original furniture, open fireplace (still used to cook suckling pigs) and artefacts on display. The terrace restaurant is traditionally furnished with colourful art and ceramics and offers an elaborate buffet style breakfast with an array of locally made yoghurts, jams and preserves, breads and pastries. Dinner is a la carte with table service with a choice of breads, antipasti, pasta, meats and desserts, accompanied by local Sardinian wines. Themed nights are featured between May and September at both Nido del Pane and La Corte de su Re. All of the vegetables served are from the hotel's gardens.

There is a lounge bar with outside terrace and the poolside gazebo bar offers drinks and snacks during the day with a shaded al fresco area and traditional wooden games to enjoy. The contemporary Bar Tablao on a summer’s evening offers a wonderful setting in which to enjoy an aperitif or digestif and encorporates the smaller Champagnoteque.

The hotel is approached via a private drive with steps up from the car park to the welcoming reception lounge. The English speaking reception offers information about the hotel, local area and excursions. There are many different wings to the hotel which are reached by staircases (no lift). The hotel is full of artistic works by many local and contemporary international artists with paintings, statues and sculptures in wood, clay and iron. Several areas are dedicated to different styles, artists and sculptors.

The public areas are full of private corners, antique furniture, seating areas and terraces with scattered colourful cushions, shaded by voiles, scented with fresh flowers and lit by candles in the evening. There is an old library with original tools and full of beautiful books to peruse and a small art gallery with a studio for those wishing to paint inspired by the surroundings. There is an old Sardinian kitchen which is often used to cook suckling pigs over the huge open fire. Also, there is an arts and craft shop and a wine cellar that can be seen through a section of glass floor. This is a romantic refuge to relax without music or shows and no televisions in the public areas.

In the gardens in front of the restaurant there is a springwater swimming pool and a large grass terrace surround with sunbeds. There is a small fitness area, massage room, jacuzzi and in the grounds there is a tennis court, mini football pitch, yoga lessons (extra cost) and mini golf under the shade of the trees. Yoga lessons are offered on the Terrace of Wishes (on request) and the small winery can organise wine tasting.

Free WiFi is available (in the reception area, by the pool, poolside gazebo and Tablao's bar) and babysitting is available on request (extra cost). Bike hire is available to see more of the local countryside and reiki, canoeing, horse riding and creative classes are available (all on request, extra cost). Astronomy sessions are also available on Saturday's at the Terrace of Dreams (May-September) and musical evening with Tenores on Friday's.

‘The area is good for walkers or excursions in 4-wheelers. Various routes for adventurous trekking or comfortable off-road vehicle rides unwind through ancient shepherds' paths, amid smooth slopes or vertiginous ravines and cliffs, stretching through infinite landscapes that dissolve into the horizon. Natural grottoes, pre-historic tombs and nuragic villages evoke the presence of ancient, extinct civilisations, as in Tiscali, Lanaitho or Gorroppu.’

The Su Gologone is situated in the middle of the countryside approximately 10km from Oliena on the road to Dorgali, about 20km from Nuoro and 100km south of Olbia. It is about 27km to the east coast and beaches at Cala Gonone, where boat trips are available and from the lovely beach at Cala Cartoe. The hotel is very near to the Su Gologone Spring and a road from the hotel leads to Tiscali, an underground Nuragic village. The local villages have a small selection of shops selling local produce but for further needs, Nuoro is the nearest big town.
