The Accommodation

Once a residence of the Italian royal family who came to the villa for their holiday's in Sardinia until the 1940's. It was built about 1880 then in the 1920's was restructured to vaguely resemble a medieval castle and in 1961 the villa became an exclusive hotel.

There are 24 guest rooms and suites, all different from each other in size, individually designed with antique furniture, some with large balconies and sea views. All the rooms have en suite bath and/or shower room with original mosaics, bathrobe, slippers and hairdryer, air conditioning, telephone, satellite TV, WiFi, minibar, safe and marble floors.

Standard Double Room double room with a park, coast (corner room with partial view of the sea and the city) or sea view (either with or without terrace) and an en suite with bath and/or shower.

Standard Single Room with a garden view and an en suite shower room.

Classical Suite double bedroom and living room with either a park view (has a sea view from the terrace) or sea view and terrace and an en suite with bath and/or shower.

Executive Suites (Open Plan)
Libeccio (35m²) bedroom with a sea view and an en suite with bath and/or shower.

Maestrale (60m²) bedroom and an en suite with bath and/or shower and sea views from the 50m² furnished terrace with jacuzzi minipool for 4 people. 

Zefiro (95m²) bedroom with sea view from the 50m² furnished terrace with jacuzzi minipool for 4 people and an en suite with bath and/or shower.

Third Floor Suite bedroom with exclusive use of the third floor, panoramic furnished terrace with a jacuzzi minipool for 4 people and an en suite with bath and/or shower.

The Restaurant & Bar

The hotel dining room retains some original features and furniture and benefits from an elegant bar and excellent restaurant, for a relaxed breakfast and candlelit dinner (extra cost), with panoramic views and sunsets across the bay.

Guests can enjoy a wonderful Italian breakfast including bread, butter and jams, biscuits, cereals, fresh fruit, muesli, yogurts and of course cappuccino, tea or coffee, hot chocolate, latte macchiato etc.

The Panoramic Restaurant V is a gourmet vegetarian and fish restaurant offering flavours of typical Sardinian cuisine from the garden and the sea, with a seasonal menu. For a broader menu, the hotel offers possibility to order specific dishes by reservation and availability of fresh local produce (no meat dishes).

Please note: the hotel restaurant only serves vegetarian and fish dishes.

The Facilities

The hotel is surrounded by Mediterranean style gardens and there is an outdoor seawater swimming pool situated on rocky terraces with sun loungers and panoramic sea views.

There is an elegant lounge with original furnishings for guests to relax and enjoy a drink from the bar. There is also an room where guests can enjoy a game of billiards.

The reception welcomes guests and offers hotel and local information and can book babysitting (extra cost). They can recommend excursions including:

• Boat rental with or without skipper
• Visits to vineyards with wine tasting
• Guided visits of Alghero and surrounding archaeological sites

The hotel offers guests free parking.

Spa Hotel

The Spa Centre, adjacent to the hotel, features an impressive Roman style indoor heated seawater pool with hydro massage jets, sauna, Technogym and health and beauty suite with massages and wellness treatments available on request (all extra cost).

Please note: access to the spa is not usually allowed to minors under 16 years of age.

The Local Area

Just a short walk along the promenade (approximately 1km) brings you to the old walled town of Alghero with an interesting history to discover and a multitude of shops, café bars, pizzerias and restaurants tucked away in the cobbled alleys. On the other side of the old town are the port, marina and long white sandy beach, which stretches all the way out to Fertilia, approximately 5km.

Huw's View

Steeped in history with a very ‘olde worlde’ charm, the position of this hotel provides stunning sea views from most of its rooms and certainly from the dining room. 

I would recommend Bed & Breakfast in order to sample the local restaurants but do have dinner in the hotel during your stay, reserving a window table, to enjoy the stunning sunsets over the bay. 

The hotel would suit couples who are looking for something special, either for a weekend spa break or longer holiday. A sea view room is highly recommended, however early booking is advised.
