Nights 1 & 2 - Buggerru
Night 3 - Fluminimaggiore
Night 4 - Arbus
Nights 5 & 6 - Piscinas
Night 7 - Montevecchio
Day 1: Arrival day
Transfer to the Buggerru, in the south west of the island.
Day 2: Cala Domestica (12km / 7.5 miles, 4 hours)
You start on a high! From the sleepy mining village of Buggerru, a trail rises to a limestone plateau above dramatic coastline and reaches Cala Domestica, one of the most picturesque bays of southern Sardinia. Return to the village following an inland trail through hills covered in Mediterranean macchia.
Day 3: San Nicolo Sand Dunes (15km / 9 miles, 5 hours)
Start your hike along the old mining trail connecting Buggeru to Fluinimaggiore and enter the San Nicolo dune system. The dunes are covered by maritime pines and on the way you will find WWII forts and giant juniper trees. Restore your forces enjoying the view from the highest dune. The following descent will lead you to the Riu Mannu valley and to your accommodation, a lovely agriturismo serving fresh local food.
Day 4: Fighezia - Arbus (14km / 8.5 miles, 4.5 hours)
The first part of today's hike is ascending. Once at the top, you will walk along a ridge with dominating views of the long wild sandy beach of Scivu and Costa Verde in the background.
Day 5: Arbus – Sciopadroxiu (9km / 5.5 miles, 2 hours)
This day is dedicated to the ancient mining past of Sardinia. Following old mining trials you will reach Ingortosu, once a flourishing town, and Naracauli with the powerful and suggestive ruins of the old washery.
Day 6: Piscinas – Freedom Day (8km / 5 miles, 2 hours)
Today you are free to explore Piscinas, famous for its celebrated sand dunes, among the highest in Europe. Some dunes are covered by the Mediterranean scrub, others still alive and modelled by the Mistral, the prevailing wind in this part of the island. It is not uncommon to spot Sardinian deer coming out of the bush at sunset.
Day 7: Sciopadroxiu - Montevecchio (15km / 9 miles, 3.5 hours)
Hike on the old trails miners used to get to Montevecchio, formerly the biggest mining town in Sardinia. The route develops along rolling hills covered in Mediterranean vegetation that offer a spectacular scenery especially in spring time.
Day 8: Departure Day
After breakfast, transfer to Cagliari airport
