Built around the swimming pools and gardens, the Carlos has 179 elegant modern and newly renovated guest rooms with en suite shower room, parquet style floors, air conditioning/heating (controlled by reception), telephone, WiFi, satellite TV (news/sports channels in English), safe, hairdryer and minibar.

All the rooms have a balcony or terrace, some with a pool or sea view (supplement, highly recommended).

The Restaurants & Bar

The hotel boasts two restaurants, Imperial Restaurant serves a buffet breakfast and is open for dinner (extra cost) offering either a buffet or set menu and Del Emperador serves à la carte lunches and dinners (both extra cost) on the outside terrace where you can enjoy stunning views across the bay.

A snack bar by the pool is open for lunch (extra cost) and serves drinks overlooking the sea throughout the day and evening.

The Facilities

The large pool and children's pool is surrounded by a terrace with sun loungers and parasols for relaxing, but if you prefer to swim in the sea, it is just a short stroll over the road to steps which lead down from the rocks into the emerald water.  The hotel is siutated in large gardens with a tennis court, complimentary gym and massage treatments available (extra cost). 

The Lido is the nearest sandy beach which is about 30 minutes walk or a few minutes by car. The Carlos V is walking distance of the old town of Alghero and therefore ideal for relaxing, sightseeing, walking and exploring the town and surrounding countryside. 

COVID-19 Protocols

We are pleased to confirm that this hotel has put COVID-19 protocols in place to ensure compliance with the regulations introduced by the Italian government in order to ensure the maximum safety and security of its guests which is detailed below.

The measures introduced will apply to both the facilities provided by the hotel and its services to guests.  Their implementation will be closely monitored and controlled in order to ensure the heathiest environment in which guests can continue to enjoy their holiday in the confidence that their risks to exposure to the COVID-19 virus is at a minimum. 

We must point out that the implementation of these measures may result in minor changes to the facilities available and certain services offered by the hotel as described on our website and in our brochure and we therefore invite our clients to contact us if they have any concerns or queries in this regard.

Clearly the changes in practices and availability of facilities may result in a difference to the guests’ experience as would otherwise be the case, although a reduced number of clients may actually result in a better service being afforded to guests.

Spa Hotel

The Libera Spa is open every day except Wednesday from 10am to 8pm. Entrance to the SPA is €25 per person for guests at the Carlos for 2 hours and includes: Heated swimming pool with hydro massage stations, swimming against the current and a waterfall, hydro massage whirlpool, Finnish sauna, Russian sauna, steam room, Thalasso experience, herbal bath for breathing in the aromas and essences (temperature of 45 - 50°C), water paradise sensory tunnel, bucket shower, ice fountain, aromatherapy and chromotherapy, relax area with herbal teas and dried fruit, towels and slippers provided. (Treatments extra cost.)

The Local Area

The old town of Alghero is approximately 1km along the promenade, where there is a good selection of shops, café bars and restaurants lining the cobbled alleys. On the other side of the town are the port and marina, where boat trips leave for Neptune’s Caves at Capo Caccia, and a long sandy beach ideal for sunbathing and swimming stretching approximately 5km to Fertilia.

This is a lovely hotel with a high standard of accommodation, good restaurant and stunning views and sunsets over the Gulf of Alghero. It is also conveniently situated within walking distance of the historic old town. 

We recommend bed & breakfast in order to take advantage of the many great restaurants nearby and car hire for those who wish to see more of the local area.
