Situated at the foot of Monte Limbara in the heart of the Gallura countryside 11km from Tempio Pausania, Hotel L’Agnata is a Canadian vine covered manor house originally home to a famous Italian singer and now a tranquil hotel with lovely gardens, pool and restaurant.

The other newer house has 8 guest rooms (some can have 1 or 2 extra beds), situated on the ground and first floor with views of the garden and pool. All the rooms are named after plants and flowers and are different from one another with traditional style furnishings and equipped with hairdryer, air conditioning, phone, safe, minibar, WiFi, satellite TV and en suite shower room.
The restaurant is located in the main manor house but in the summer months guests can enjoy a buffet breakfast outside in the in the cool shade of a weeping willow and a light lunch or a romantic dinner (extra cost) on the terrace, with authentic Sardinian cuisine using seasonal local produce to create typical traditional dishes.
Covered in a Canadian vine giving an unmistakable façade, this charming hotel is immersed in picturesque gardens. Inside there is a welcoming atmosphere with comfortable furnishings and professional and friendly hosts who will provide guests with hotel and local information.
The essence of the hotel is reflected in its name, Agnata meaning ‘hidden corner’ which in the mid 1970's was the home of a famous Italian singer/ songwriter/ poet called De Andre, who lived here with his future wife Dori Ghezzi. People come from all around to visit his home, which still emanates a poetic atmosphere.
In the gardens, there is a Zen fountain and ‘wade in’ swimming pool surrounded by granite rocks and terrace with sunbeds. There are lovely walks through the gardens to a lake with views of the surrounding hills.
The Agnata promotes and supports the local Gallura region and can organise excursions to Monte Limbara and the archaeological sites nearby such as Nuraghe Majore. The coast with its beautiful beaches can be reached in under an hour by car, the closest being Isola Rossa 46km away.

Tempio Pausania lies inland in the heart of Gallura at the foot of Monte Limbara (1,359m), 52km from Olbia and 69km from Sassari in the north east of Sardinia.
The town has original cobble streets, shops, churches and restaurants yet is famous for its cork products, granite stone production and vineyards producing Muscat and Vermentino wines.
The typical granite stone architecture of the historical centre has many similarities with southern Corsican towns and its granite plateau provided the materials for the 15th century Cathedral and Oratorio del Rosario, which with some 19th century reconstruction gives a combination of late Romanesque and Baroque architecture. In the surrounding countryside, there are several Nuraghic-period remains including the nuraghes of Monti Pinna, Tanca Manna Izzana, Culbinu, Agnu and Majori.
The area is also known for thermal springs and the mineral water from the Rinaggiu springs at the foot of Monte Limbara has excellent curative properties. Hiking is popular in the Gallura mountains with trails and waterfalls to discover. Il Trenino Verde offers a scenic train route to Palau on the coast on some days in the summer months.
L’Agnata countryside hotel is something different in the heart of Gallura, 11km from the hillside town of Tempio Pausania.
In the past it was home of De Andre, a famous Italian singer whose fans now visit the hotel to see his memorabilia which gives the hotel a rather enchanting musical and poetic atmosphere.
It is situated in the middle of nowhere also adding to its appeal to get away from it all and be immersed in the peace and tranquillity of the countryside.
Monte Limbara (1,359m) is worth visiting for it fantastic views over Sardinia and beyond.

"We had a spacious and clean room with a comfortable bed and an attractive covered balcony with table and chairs overlooking the landscaped pool. The staff were friendly and efficient and spoke excellent English. The dining room has big glass doors leading onto the terrace and garden but the food is fairly heavy rustic style, i.e meat and cheese rather than fish, green veg and salads. The hotel and its remote position was somewhat quirky but added to the pleasure of our stay."
